Fly fishing casting is an art. It is an art that some have mastered and others… well, others are still working on their fly fishing casting! For a great cast, you need to start out with a good grip. This does not mean you want a death-grip! Rather, a good tip for fly fishing casting is to keep your thumb up on top of the rod, because this will allow you to apply greater force when casting a short stroke.
